Assistant Principal for Instruction
Hello from Dr. Abbey Duggins
  • Assistant Principal for Instruction

This is my fifteenth year working with the students and teachers of Saluda County Schools. In addition to teaching English language arts, I have served the Saluda Educational Complex as literacy coach at SMS and instructional coach at SHS. In 2011 I became the Assistant Principal for Instruction at SHS and am honored to continue in that role for the 2016-2017school year.
I completed my undergraduate work at Bowling Green State University, earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, English in 2002. In August 2007, I completed my Master’s Degree in Language and Literacy at the University of South Carolina. In August 2010, I earned a second Master's Degree in Educational Administration from USC. During the summer of 2012, I took language and culture courses at Beijing's Language and Culture University in Beijing, China and am so grateful for my educational experiences there. In 2014, I earned my doctorate in Language and Literacy at USC. I definitely love school and am energized by learning, reading, and interacting with students and colleagues. I am a passionate educator who is determined to guide each student I work with to become a life-long reader, writer, and learner.
In addition to my work with Saluda County Schools, I am on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (SCASCD). I have also served as President of the South Carolina Leaders of Literacy (SCLL).
